HOW TO EDIT OR INACTIVATE AN EXISTING SKILL
To edit or make changes to a skill or certification that has already been created, click SKILLS AND CREDENTIALS from the menu bar on the left to get started.
Click the pencil icon to the right of the skill you would like to edit
You can:
a. Edit the name of the Skill or Certification.
b. Change the type of approval: Self Approved or Supervisor Approved. Supervisor Approved means that a supervisor will need to verify that it is complete and approve it.
c. Use Competency YES or NO – Provides Buttons for Very Competent, Somewhat Competent, or Competent.
d. Active Status means it is visible for use.
e. When you inactivate the skill when you no longer want to track who has this skill ongoing, but you want to retain any history of who already has it.
f. Using the drop-down menu provided, you can select USE EXPIRY, or NEVER EXPIRES.
g. If you are using the Expiry, select 1, 2, or 3 years, or select the custom option and enter an alternative renewal (i.e.: 5,)
Does your skill or certification have a varying renewal?
If you track a certification that has varying renewal frequencies, such as a training that needs to be done annually for the first 3 years, and then every 2 years thereafter. The image on the left depicts how that would be set up on this page.
If your skill does not have a varying renewal, ensure multi-Level is not turned on.
Default Aler Threshold, is the number of days prior to the skill expiring. A notice will be sent to the staff member, notifying them the skill requires renewal.
You can add/edit a Description about the skill or certification (optional).
To associate this skill with the completion of a course, search for the course name using the dropdown provided. You can only select ONE course title (whether it is a single course, or name of a Bundle/Learning Pathway)
Click the TEST MANDATORY checkbox if the test associated with the course must also be completed. Type in the pass rate/percentage in the space provided.
If you are logged in as a Corporate User, you can select the locations that you would like to use and track this certification/skill.
Select the Education Groups that this skill applies to.
Note: Selecting an education group does not assign this skill or certification as being mandatory. It determines who sees the skill in their “My Profile”. If I am a Housekeeping Staff Member, I will not see Nursing Specific Certifications in my list of potential skills. In “My Profile” staff can check off any skills or certifications that they have, and their supervisors can later review and approve the skills submitted.
Click SUBMIT to save the changes you’ve made.
