HOW TO ADD A NEW SKILL OR CERTIFICATION
INTRODUCTION
Skills and Credentials is a great place to track things like certifications that have ongoing renewals, such as CPR, First Aid, and Safe Food Handling. You can also utilize this feature for tracking N95 Mask Fit Testing and Mask Sizing, professional licensing (i.e., College of Nurses), as well as language skills.
Instructions
- Click SKILLS AND CREDENTIALS from the menu bar
- Click ADD NEW SKILL
- Enter the name of the skill under Skill Name
- Select Self Approved or Supervisor Approved. Supervisor Approved means that a supervisor will need to verify that it is complete and approve it
- Use Competency buttons to identify - Very Competent, Somewhat Competent, or Competent
Active Status means it is visible for use. Inactivate the skill if you no longer want to track who has this skill going forward, but would like to retain the history of who has it.
- Using the drop-down menu provided, you can select USE EXPIRY, or NEVER EXPIRES.
If you are using the Expiry, select 1, 2, or 3 years, or select the custom option and enter an alternative renewal (i.e., 5)
Does your skill or certification have a varying renewal?
If you want to track a certification that has varying renewal frequencies, such as training needs to be done annually for the first 3 years, and then every 2 years thereafter. The image on the left depicts how that would be set up on this page.
If your skill does not have a varying renewal, ensure multi-Level is not turned on. Enter the Default Alert Threshold, which is the number of days prior to the skill expiring in which the staff member will be notified that the skill is coming up for renewal.
You can enter a Description about the skill or certification (optional)
To associate this skill with the completion of a course, search for the course name using the dropdown provided. You can only select ONE course title (whether it is a single course, or name of a Bundle/Learning Pathway)
Click the TEST MANDATORY checkbox if the test associated with the course must also be completed. Type in the pass rate/percentage in the space provided.
If you are logged in as a Corporate User, you can select the locations that you would like to use and track this certification/skill.
Select the Education Groups that this skill applies to.
